Coastguard wants you!

Client: Coastguard for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba
Agency: Stradius
Category: Recruting campaign
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction
Team with: De Schrijfkeizer (Copy)
Extra info: The Coastguard for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba is looking for new personnel. And in contrast with other possible employers, they offer a rather exciting career for adventurous youngsters. A non-boring career to be exact. So a poster was made and distributed at places where the target audience was to be found. Pictured was only the image of a sleeping young man and the slogan/URL: www.noboringcareer.an. Thus triggering the curiosity of passersby. When they browsed to the URL they would see the commercial from which the image came. Plus a possibility to sign-up for the Coastguard. The film was also shown on TV.

KABGA Passport

Client: The Cabinet of the Governor of Aruba (KABGA)
Agency: Stradius Aruba
Category: Print
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction
Team with: De Schrijfkeizer (Copy)
Translation: "Without a passport you won't get far."
Extra info: How do you get people to realize that they always have to have a valid passport? After all a passport is not something that you need every day… Well, using fake travel ads, offering what seems to be an extremely cheap travel opportunity is a good start. These ads (and billboard) pointed to a specially created website and a special phone number. Numerous people fell for it and called the number or visited the website, hoping for a cheap vacation. And they got the message: 'Sin paspoort valido bo no ta yega leu’.

Fatum Run

Client: Fatum Insurances
Agency: Stradius
Category: Poster
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction, Design
Team with: Willem Blankenburgh (Copy)
Extra info: Poster to invite people to inscribe for the annual 10k Fatum Run. Fatum actively encourages a healthy life style.

Pointsnack 100% Croquettes

Client: Pointsnack
Agency: Stradius
Category: Print (draft proposal)
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction, Copy, Photo Manipulation
Team with: Raygen Zuiverloon (Copy)
Translation: "100% conch! 100% quality croquette! Ask for Pointsnack.", "100% cow! 100% quality croquette! Ask for Pointsnack."
Extra info: Pointsnack is a Curaçao-based manufacturer of croquettes. And their croquettes are far superior to the competition, believe me!

Fatum Limerick

Client: Fatum Insurances
Agency: Stradius
Category: Print & brochure (concept)
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction, Typography
Team with: Marianne Eman, Willem Blankenburh & Farley Lourens (Copy) and Sander van Beusekom (Illustrator)
Translation:
"A young man from Pelican Key
was jogging when he hit a tree
he fell on his back
and twisted his leg
Fatum covered the hospital fee!"
(not a literal translation, but it does gives an idea of the campaign's textual feel)
Extra info: Fatum initially asked for a radio only campaign. One that whould make Fatum stand out from the competition. But that also was to be amusing and sympathetic. Plus should be able to highlight all their insurance products. Thus the limerick campaign was born, to illustrate the various situations in which one can depend on Fatum. "Because when things go bad, Fatum’s insurances do a lot of good". Since the radio ads were well received (people even send their own limericks to Fatum), it was decided to also translate them into newspaper ads. To keep the 'don't worry be happy' vibe, cartoons were used.

Subway Aruba Image Refreshment

Client: Subway
Agency: Stradius Aruba
Category: Print & TV
(Co-)responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction, Animation
Team with: Raygen Zuiverloon (Copy)
Translation: "Are you fresh?"
The catchy, in-your-face “BO TA FRESCO?” line asks the reader if he or she feels good and self-assured and on the other hand if he or she has a healthy lifestyle.
Extra info: The purpose of this campaign was to rejuvenate the Subway brand on Aruba. There's a lot of competition from McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell and the like. Subway wasn't 'hot' anymore among Aruban youngsters. They also want to offer a healthier alternative to junk food. The slogan “BO TA FRESCO?” has become a real catch phrase in Aruba!

Fatum Pension Clock

Client: Fatum Insurances
Agency: Stradius
Category: Promotional item
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction
Extra info: The Fatum Pension Clock was created as a promo gift for Fatum's brokers. A constant reminder to their clients: 'Time to plan your retirement.'

AZV Thermometer

Client: AZV (Aruba's National Health Care Service)
Agency: Stradius Aruba
Category: Print
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction
Team with: Willem Blankenburgh (Copy)
Translation: "AZV helps Aruba to get well again."
Extra info: The thermometer reads 'Bon' which is papiamentu for 'Ok'. The text tells the story of the person in question and how AZV helped them get well again.

Ecovision Waste Management Solutions

Client: Ecovision Waste Management Solutions
Agency: Blond
Category: Print & brochure (concept)
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction
Team with: Willem Blankenburgh (Copy)
Translation: "Where is it going to?" In Dutch, this sounds particularly philosophical.

Banco di Caribe Mortgage

Client: Banco di Caribe
Agency: Stradius
Category: Print, Event
Responsible for: Concept, Art-Direction, Lay Out
Team with: Argelis Rosa (Copy)
Translation: "Your house in your bag!"
Don't let your dream house get away. Scoop it up and put it safely in your bag.
Extra info: Not your usual boring run-of-the-mill mortgage testimonial. The mortgages of Banco di Caribe are haute couture! With back up from Banco di Caribe you can shop around for your own dreamhouse. The campaign was a big succes and received a lot of positive feedback. Part of the campaign was an real 'Mortgage Boutique' where people could get all the latest 'tips & trends'. It was held on november 10th 2007, from 10 am till 2 pm. More than 60 people showed up at the boutique to apply for a mortgage that day alone!
